Katt in 2024

Welcome to the Cativerse. I’m Katt and this site is my little haven where I share my experiences and the various things I tinker with.

I am a former radio broadcast engineer, news announcer, ‘DJ’ and voiceover artist. I’ve also worked in IT as a Linux admin and software development, among a long list of other odd things I’ve decided to pick up and try along the way for one reason or another.

I am a real person from Western New York where I currently reside in a tiny community of beautiful chosen human family and at least two cats who have claimed me as their servant. I am a queer GenX’er on the spectrum/AuDHD, which I am just now understanding and getting officially diagnosed.

I also have dilated cardiomyopathy, unpredictable arrhythmias, autoimmune disorders, neuropathy, long Covid and and other ‘fun’ things that keep life interesting. But I try to stay positive and do the things I can. Right now my main objective is to help sustain my little community while I sort out new things to do to support myself in the long-term, as I have zero retirement funds, the inability to do the kind of work I used to do, and a very strong desire to do something meaningful with the remaining years of my life, even if it’s only meaningful to me.

I contribute to my little community by paying a small amount of rent, fixing and building things around the property and helping take care of the gardening and such as I am able. Day to day I work on various things as I am able to and as my ADHD brain will allow me. One day I’ll be busy taking photographs of planes and birds and later at night or the next day I’ll find myself working on a new idea for a vector or 3D printed part, a character voice, writing, or some other thing I have going. I usually do my voice work at night, because it’s quieter and cooler. I’m almost always working or churning on something. Even if I’m quiet or napping, there’s always something going on in there. I sometimes wake up tired but with the solution to a problem. An OK trade I suppose.

I am one of those “you don’t look sick” but in reality pretty much disabled people. I can do many things, but I require a lot of down time and surprise! most employers don’t like that very much. I’ve lived life on the edge of complete CHF for over 20 years as I struggled to work and take care of a household and children. I know many can relate to all of this. You’re my people.

It’s my hope that others can benefit from my experiences and feel more comfortable with themselves as artists and creators and humans as I learn to do so myself. I depend on this site to showcase my work and people who enjoy and make use of it dropping me a few bucks to help support me and the Cativerse Crew. If you enjoy my work, please let me know, and consider a small donation to help keep the kitties from eating my face.

Thank you,

@katt
